5 Essential Spawn figures

Over the years, there have been numerous variations of Spawn produced in toy form. These five, in my opinion, are the ones that matter most, and anyone who is considering collecting Spawn should check them out.

The first, is the 10th Anniversary Spawn, which was the subject of my previous blog entry. Kindly scroll down to the previous blog to ream more about it.

The second, is the "Halloween" Spawn from Series 24: Comic Covers. This figure is particularly interesting because, just like the 10th Anniversary Spawn, this is very articulated. It is a re-mold of the 10th Anniversary figure, with slight tweaks. First, it is based on Spawn's second costume, with one big boot and one big glove. Second, Spawn is unmasked, so we can see his "hamburger" head. Third, it has a different cape.

The Third is Spawn i.95, otherwise known as "Spawn 8". This is important, because it features his second costume splendidly. It is the best sculpt for the second costume of Spawn. Yes, it looks a little bit like "Spawn 5", but this figure can stand up on it's own withou a base, something lacking from the former.

This sculpt was re-issued in the 1/6 scale, which furthers highlight its appeal to Spawn collectors.

Up next is the second "Wings of Redemption" Spawn, from series 34. What makes this relevant is because this costume was actually introduced in the Armageddon arc. In that arc, Spawn was given, and made to eat the "fruit" of heaven, by "mother Earth" (Gaia) which gave him "god-like" powers, enabling him to save mankind from the frivolous fighting between satan and "god".
You have a choice between this one or the WOR Spawn from Series 21. However, this is more dynamic in a flying pose, so I chose it over the other one.

Ahhh, Spawn 9, from series 29. This is particularly a must have, because it features Spawn in his latest costume which he wore after the Armageddon arc. The Armageddon storyline wraps up all the loose ends of the series from the very first issue up to the end of the arc, which concludes the series as a "superhero" genre. It marks the transition of the series from a superhero/mystery comic, into horror/mystery. And it finally resolves Al Simmon's obsession over Wanda (finally!).
